Moon Hill
Snow and frost at Moon Hill simplifies the form, and isolates the gentle glow of the sun through the trees.
Grasses
There's a huge variety of textures in the forest as we move from summer through to autumn. The greens drop out and the grasses get more wispy and golden in colour. Often you find leaves tangled in with the grasses, sometimes just the interwoven strands...

Rans Wood
Over the last six months I've been working on a set of images taken around Stubbs Wood. I've been trying to get under the skin, and close to the natural textures in a way that I used to do many years ago. I have worked intensively on small patches and responded to the ever changing light and landscape of the area.
Topographically I am drawing in the area between Rans Wood, Frame Wood, Moon Hill, and Stubbs Wood. This one taken when we were bound by heavy snow in January 2010.

Rans Wood
I've been working on a series of photos in and around Rans Wood for a little while. I was first drawn by the light falling between the trees, and thought it was about time to start a new project. The pictures have been fairly expressionist so far, and some quite painterly images appearing....

Pondhead
Walking in the snow yesterday surrounded by that silence that accompanies the white out. The flakes hitting the water were very gentle, but the patterns quite clear...
